Lodge Information & Rules
1. Health, Safety and Wellbeing:
Your health, safety and wellbeing are our top priorities at Berghutte. We believe in creating a safe, respectful, and harmonious environment for everyone. All members and guests are encouraged to play a part in maintaining this by adhering to a few simple guidelines:
advise the Lodge Managers of any incidents or hazards to ensure Lodge equipment and facilities can be maintained to a safe standard;
ensure the safe use, handling and storage of any items or equipment in the Lodge;
follow all health and safety directions required of you by the Lodge Managers;
disclose to the Directors any known risks, including medical condition(s) to ensure these risks can be managed and reasonably accommodated for your stay at the Lodge;
refer to the Terms and Conditions of Booking and How To Manage An Infectious Illness at Berghütte for further information on physical distancing, mask wearing, self isolating, testing and checking out procedures of the lodge as soon as possible when you and your guests become unwell;
immediately advise the Lodge Manager if you or your guests develop even mild symptoms of infectious illness including COVID-19, cold, influenza or gastrointestinal symptoms or other symptoms of infectious illness during your stay at the Lodge. Refer to the Terms and Conditions of booking and how to manage an infectious illness at Berghutte for more information on self-isolating, testing and checking out of the Lodge as soon as possible when you or your guests become unwell;
smoking is not permitted on Berghutte premises and an additional cleaning charge of a minimum of $500 is payable for smoking in the bedroom, balconies or common areas. Smoking is not permitted on the front balcony outside the kitchen or in the car park or gardens if these areas are being used by other members or guests.

2. Winter Dining and Communal Cleaning arrangements:
Meals at Berghutte are a cherished tradition, where everyone gathers to enjoy good food and great company.
Accommodation rates for Winter include breakfast 7 days a week and dinner 6 nights a week.
Prior to your stay at the Lodge, you must advise the Lodge Managers in writing, if you have any dietary requirements, and the Chef will do their best to accommodate your request, noting this may not always be possible, especially during peak periods.
Please advise the Lodge Managers in advance if you do not require a meal during your stay, or if you would like to request having guests join us for dinner (subject to availability).
Junior Meals – Juniors (ages 14-17) are entitled to an adult meal. If children under 3 require a small portion of a children’s meal please advise the Lodge Managers.
Chef's Night Off – This is Wednesday nights and you will need to make other arrangments for dinner. Should you wish to dine out in the Village, it will serve you well to make restaurant bookings well in advance for this night as the village becomes very busy during peak season
The main kitchen is not accessible by members unless invited by the Lodge Managers.
Breakfast is available from 7.30am - 8.30am during Winter. Dinner is from 7pm- 8.30 pm.
Children enjoy their own early mealtime. Dinner for Children is served at 6 pm. Adults supervision is appreciated during meal times and assisting in serving, clearing and cleaning up the Dining Room at the end of children’s meal times.
We believe in the value of shared effort.
during meal times, serving and clearing of meals including all crockery, cutlery and glasses is appreciated
outside of meal times, using the member dishwasher to wash as many used glasses, mugs, cutlery is required or returning all crockery, glasses mugs to the designated area as directed by the Lodge Managers/Chef for cleaning through the industrial dishwasher. Please try to clean as many of your own dishes as possible
at all times, keeping communal areas clean, tidy and free of personal belongings is appreciated for the comfort of all members and their guests.
Summer Lodge arrangements
The Kitchen and Dining Areas are open for self-catering. Please clean your own dishes and cooking utensils after each meal. If the BBQ is used, it should be cleaned prior to your departure. A cleaning fee may be applied to your account if the BBQ is left in an unsatisfactory state.
Please ensure you leave all communal areas clean, including the downstairs bathrooms; vacuum and mop common areas, and remove all rubbish to the outside bins next to the stairs in the car park each day to prevent a build up of odours in the lodge
You will be required to supply your own groceries during Summer
Complimentary tea, coffee pods, sugar, pepper and salt are available for your convenience.
The white fridge in the kitchen is for the Manager’s personal use and you should not accessed unless the fridge is empty when you arrive then you are welcome to use it. There is also a large glass fronted fridge in the main kitchen pantry, some freezer space and a fridge in the member’s kitchenette, together with the downstairs fridge in the basement for your convenience.
Your bedroom linen is included in the booking cost. You will only need to bring your own bathroom linen and soap for your stay.
3. Bookings Arrivals and Departures:
Weekly Winter Season bookings are from Sunday to Saturday.
Check in time is 2 pm. If you arrive earlier than your check-in time, you may not be able to access your room prior 2 pm.
Room Allocations are posted on the entrance hall notice board so you know exactly where to go.
Children under 3 are not allocated a bed and are therefore free of charge if you provide their bedding. If you require a bed for a child under 3, please advise this in writing on your booking and you will be charged an additional cost for the bed linen.
Don’t forget to bring your bath towels and other bathroom linen.
Bookings are allocated for beds, not rooms and sharing of rooms between different bookings may occasionally occur although prior notice will always be given by the Lodge Managers.
The total number of members or guests staying at the Lodge will not exceed the agreed number determined by the Board regardless of room configuration.
On your day of departure, we ask that you kindly vacate the room by 10am.
Please leave the room clean and tidy and have cleared the room of all your belongings including the disposal of any rubbish into the garbage bins next to the stairs in the car park.
Remove the linen from your bed and leave it neatly in a pile in your room or in areas designated by the Lodge Managers.
Return any items belonging to Berghutte such as glasses or mugs to the kitchen. During Winter these should be placed in the areas as directed by the Lodge Managers/Chef. During Summer you are required to clean these via the dishwasher and put away prior to your departure.
If you are not leaving the mountain straight away on your departure, please ensure you car is moved to the public carpark at 10am
4. Security:
At Berghutte, we want you to feel safe and secure during your stay.
When your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email with the front door code. For everyone’s peace of mind, please keep this code private and only share it with members of your group.
To help maintain a secure environment, please ensure that all external doors remain closed and or locked during your stay when not in immediate use.
Berghutte Ski Club is not responsible for your personal belongings in the Lodge at any time. We encourage you to implement your own security measures whilst at the Lodge.
The WIFI password is available on the noticeboard on the back of your room door. Please only share it with those staying in the Lodge.
5. Member Fridges:
A fridge is located in the Dining room and the basement off the Games room for your use. During the Winter season, only limited storage of food is possible in these fridges. You’re welcome to prepare your own food in the convection oven or microwave located in the Dining Room member’s kitchenette. If you require access to the Kitchen due to dietary requirements please speak to the Manager in advance.
6. Car Parking:
Parking at Berghutte is a luxury. Please note the following:
our car park located via the Lantern Apartments driveway, provides convenient access to the lodge. You will maintain good relationships with our neighbours by entering and leaving via their car in a respectful and courteous way and you will not park or block access in the Lantern Apartments.
space is limited to we give priority parking to our members first, followed by guests
only motor bikes or cars can be parked. Please contact our Managers ahead of time if you wish to park trailers, trucks or other types of vehicles.
where, if and how you park in the Lodge car park is at the discretion of the Lodge Manager.
parking in the Lodge car park is at your own risk and Berghutte is not liable for any loss or damage to your property.
if the car park is at maximum capacity, you’re welcome to unload your vehicle in the carpark and then park in the near-by public car park. Shuttle buses run frequently during the day (one, whole mountain shuttle bus runs at night), stopping right at the entrance to the Lantern Apartments making it easy for you to get back to the Lodge.
only one vehicle per room can be parked in the Lodge car park to a maximum of 10 cars.
if you park in the car park, place your keys in the ‘key box’ located in the dining room labelling them with your car registration number, Berghutte room number and your mobile phone number.
other members may need to move your car. By parking in the Berghutte car park, you do this at your own risk.
adequate notice should be given in advising other members and guests about your intention to remove or move your car from its parked position in the Lodge car park, if it is parked in by other members’ cars. To minimise issues and assist in a smooth departure by car, please communicate your travel plans with other relevant members & guests the night before.
without early and clear communication of car travel plans you may be delayed or cause others to be delayed. It may be necessary to be available to move your vehicle at any time as directed by the Lodge Manager or at the request of other members and guests (including during the day, when you may need to return to the lodge from an activity).
7. Bike/Ski and Drying Room:
We know your gear is an important part of your alpine experience, which is why we’ve provided a secure bike and ski storage room conveniently located to the left in the entrance hall.
Please store all equipment here to help keep the lodge clean and clutter-free.
We kindly ask that ski boots and muddy shoes are left at the door—nothing beats the feeling of stepping into a warm, dry lodge after a day on the slopes or trails.
Our dedicated drying room ensures that your gear is ready for action each morning. Simply hang up your jackets, pants and gloves as neatly as possible, and giving boots plenty of space to let the heater take care of the rest.
8. Guest Laundry and Ski Tuning Room:
Our guest laundry and ski tuning room are here to make your stay even more convenient. Located via the 1st Floor landing, these facilities are available for your use during your stay. Please leave the area tidy for the next person, making sure you quickly you’re your washing to the dryer allowing another guest to use the facilities. Each wash and dry is $5. Please let the Managers know your total amount of washes during your stay to pay by credit card on departure.
Regarding the ski tuning facilities, please ensure all tools and equipment are put back in place, the floor swept and clean of excess wax and debris.
9. Member’s Guest Responsibilities:
We warmly welcome our members’ guests to Berghutte. We remind members that they are responsible and liable for the actions of their guests at all times, include times when a member may not be staying at the Lodge at the same time as their guests. This responsibly extends to any fines, fees, penalties, damage, loss, outstanding payments or unsatisfactory behaviour. Please make your guests aware of booking terms and conditions, guidelines, rules and by-laws of the Club prior to them checking in. It’s all part of making their stay as comfortable and hassle-free at possible.
10. Lost Property:
We understand that sometimes things get left behind. If you forget an item, rest assured we’ll do our best to reunite you with it. Lost property is kept for two weeks, after which any unclaimed items will be donated to charity or disposed of. Should you need an item returned, simply send us a reply-paid satchel, and our Lodge Managers will take care of it.
11. On another serious note:
The Mountains are known for extreme weather. Berghutte is located in an extreme climatic environment which can range from bushfires to blizzards. On acceptable of your booking at Berghutte, you accept that Berghutte will not be responsible for any loss of enjoyment, injury, illness, changes or cancellation during your stay that is occasioned by the effects of bush fires, excessive snow, ice, rain and storm activity, infectious illness or any other natural phenomenon.
Dogs and other pets are not permitted in the Kosciuszko National Park and thus not permitted in the Lodge.
Thredbo is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Please respect this by disposing of your garbage in the bins provided and not leaving food in rooms and on balconies as this may attract unwanted visitors to the Lodge.
Finally, the Lodge Managers and the Directors reserve the right to ask you or your guests to leave the Lodge for any reason should we consider that it is not in the best interest of the Berghütte Ski Club. Your remaining accommodation services are non-refundable.
